315 to Chama - A trip back in time on the Rio Grande's 3rd Division.
D&RGW #315 is back to work on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad! After
recently being restored by the Durango Railroad Historical Society, the 315 has
been assigned to a work extra leaving from Antonito, CO. Follow along as she
pulls a string of gondola cars, climbing the mountains and winding along canyons
on her way over the 10,000 ft Cumbres Pass then down into the Chama Valley and
finally into Chama, NM. Then follow the 315 on the next day as she climbs the
strenuous 4% grade on her way over Cumbres Pass, returning a different consist
back to Antonito. The runtime is approximately 72 minutes. Filmed September 13th-14th, 2009.
The cost of the DVD is $25 + $5 for postage (Priority Mail for anywhere in the US).
The proceeds from the purchase of this DVD will go to the Durango Railroad
Historical Society, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Friends of
the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
The DVD's can also be purchased directly from the groups. The DRHS will have them available
at Durango Railfest and the
National Narrow Guage Convention. DVD's
supporting the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad will be available at the Chama Hotel
and Shops across from the depot and in the gift shop in Osier. The Friends of
the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad will have them available online.
Recently the DRHS has received a grant from the Narrow Gauge Preservation Society
that will match funds for donation received. All purchases made through me will go
to the DRHS while the grant is in effect. In addition, I will donate an additional
$5 for each DVD purchased. That will bring the total donation to the DRHS to $30 and
once matched by the grant it will be a grand total of $60 to the DRHS. So, you can see
just how far your help will go.
